Preety in Purple

PRETTY IN PURPLE

For This Project, You Will Need:

Equipment:

Scissors

12” Rule

Craft Knife

Materials:

Purple Flower Elements from Sheet of Prestigious Pearl 3D Decoupage – Line 527

1 x A5 Sheet Cream Hammered Card

1 Piece Gold Card – 5.7cm x 9.8 cm and 1 Piece Cream Card – 4.9 cm x 9cm
OR
Rectangular Pop-Out taken from Aperture Card in Kanban Fishing Bear Decoupage Kit

Piece 10mm Gold Organza Ribbon – approximately 17cm in length

Stix 2 – 1mm Double-Sided Foam Pads

Double-Sided Tape

Gold Peel-off Greeting and Corners

Method:

1.
Fold the cream card in half.

2.
Stick the piece of gold card to the front of the card, using double-sided tape and leaving a gap of 2.3cm from the top and 2.4cm from the left hand side. Stick the cream card on top of this, using double-sided tape and leaving an even margin all around.
(NOTE: I used the rectangular pop-out from the aperture card, which is included in the Kanban “Fishing Bear” Decoupage Kit, as I had this left over from that project).

3.
Measure 1cm from the bottom of the card and mark lightly with pencil at both left and right hand edges of the front of the card. Measure 1cm up from these marks and mark again.

4.
On the left hand side of the card, where it folds, take a sharp craft knife and cut between the two pencil marks you made in Step 3.

5.
Thread one end of the gold organza ribbon through the slit you have made and secure it inside the card using a small piece of double-sided tape. Using the pencil marks you made on the right hand side of the card as a guide, take the ribbon across the card and secure inside with double-sided tape.

6.
Pop out the “B” layers (the purple flower) from the decoupage sheet. Shape gently with a bone folder and then apply double-sided foam pads to the reverse of all layers.

7.
Place the first layer onto the centre of the card, as shown, and position the remaining layers on top.

8.
Apply a peel-off greeting to the ribbon and peel-off corners, as shown.

One Stop Craft Challenge 26

This weeks One Stop Craft challenge has been set by Maggie from our design team and she has chosen the theme....
'Something New'
What a great challenge, crafters love to try out a new technique or use some new crafting goodies, so now is a great excuse to do just that. One Stop Card Crafts has donated a great prize, so go over to the challenge blog for some great inspiration from the design team and details of how to enter.

I have done a 12 x 12 scrapbook page, which is a first for me and I loved doing it and will certainly be doing more. I have left this one quite plain but i am going to more and embellish them more.

Also we have something new in our online store..... Kanban Toppers Music & Dance, these were seen on TV and have been a real success. There are loads of different toppers from Rock & Roll to ballet. We will have some examples on the blog next week to give you some inspiration.

Jasimne Topper Card

To make this card you will need;
A5 White Card
Black Card
Kanban Jasmine Toppers
Kanban Black Cherry Card
Ribbon
Pearlescent Pink Paper
Black Stick On Gems
Double Sided Tape
Double Sided Foam Pads

Tools;
Ruler
Craft Knife

1)Cut the following
A rectangle 14.5cm x 20.5cm from Black Card
A rectangle 12cm x 12cm from Pink Pearlececent Paper
A rectangle 12cm x 16cm from Black Cherry Card
2) Using double sided tape stick the pink paper to the top and black cherry card under it, to the plain black card. There should be a 1cm border around the edges and just under a 1cm between the two.
3) Place the ribbon in gap between them and stick the ends to the reverse side of the plain black card. The whole front is then ready to stick to the A5 card. The black card is slightly smaller then the card front itself so a small white border will show.
4) Cut a piece of the flowered design from the Black Cherry Card and carefully cut around the outline of the flowers along one edge. The size is up to you but it needs to fit in the top right corner of the Pink Pearlecent Paper, where it is stuck with double sided tape.
5) Choose your topper and add it to your card with double sided foam pads.
6) Use the flowered circle from the middle of card and choose a greeting. Stick the flowered circle direct to the card and using the foam pads add the greeting.
7) Decorate with Black Stick-on Gems.

GONE FISHIN’ APERTURE DECOUPAGE CARD

For This Project, You Will Need:

Equipment:

Craft Knife

Cutting Mat

Pencil

12” Rule

Materials:

1 Kanban Invertage Kit – Fishing Bear

Small Piece 7mm Honey Gold Metallic Edged Ribbon

Stix 2 – 1mm Double-Sided Foam Pads

Double Sided Tape

Small amount of Glue (optional)

1.
Take the greetings card blank from the Kanban Aperture Decoupage Kit. Pop out the rectangle from the centre of the card and fold the card in half, with the aperture at the front.

2.
Separate the toppers and the frames from the decoupage sheet, using a sharp craft knife to release the pips.

3.
Open the card out and, on the inside right-hand half of the card, lightly draw a rectangle the same size as the largest topper. To position it correctly, measure down 3.3cm from the top of the card, leaving 3.7cm at the bottom and 2.4cm on either side.

4.
Take the largest of the toppers and attach within the rectangle you have just drawn, using double-sided tape.

5.
Attach the remaining 3 toppers on top of the largest image, with the smallest image on top, using double-sided foam pads.

6.
Close the card over, so that the front is facing you and the topper layers from the inside of the card are poking through the aperture. Take the aperture frame with the smallest aperture. Line this up with the uppermost topper and stick to the front of the card, using double-sided tape.

7.
Attach the frame with the next smallest aperture on top of this, using double-sided foam pads and repeat for the last frame.

8.
Make a small bow, using the gold ribbon, and attach to the top of the card using double-sided tape or glue.

One Stop Craft Challenge 25 ' Decorative Cuts'

This week over at the challenge it is Donna's turn to set the challenge. She has set the challenge of 'decorative cuts'. There are some great DT cards on the blog to give you inspiration and this weeks prize is a selection of ribbon worth £10.00!

The card I have made this week has 2 different types of decorative edge. One I cut using some pinking scissors and the other I used a scalloped oval die. The butterfly was done by using Cosmic Shimmer film. I did 2 layers one with 3 sheets fused together and the other with 2. I layered these to create a 3D effect. It is only the second time I have used heat bondable film and I love it.
So why not join in with this weeks great challenge.

A couple of birthday cards

It was my mums birthday on Sunday and I made a card from myself and my little brother philip asked me to do one for him. My mum is cat mad so Philip wanted a cat on the card. I used a Jolly Nation cat decoupage sheet, but when I put it together i thought it looked a bit plain so I added a diamante collar :) I'm pleased to say she loved them both and Philip was sooo pleased with it. Here they are....

Challenge 23 'All Sewn Up'

This week at the One Stop Craft Challenge Sharon has set the great theme of 'All Stitched up'. All you need to do is some stitching on your items this week. It doesn't matter whether it is faux, doodled, stamped, machine or hand stitched.
So take a look at the challenge and have a go, there is some great inspiration from our design team as always and a great prize.
This is my card sample for this weeks challenge.
I haven't done faux stitching before but really enjoyed it. I pierced the holes and then drew the stitches with an embossing pen. The image is from a Craft UK prestigious pearl die cut decoupage sheet and the backing papers from my stash. I used glossy accents to create some more texture on the flowers.

Rainbow Lady's Challenge 54

This week over at Rainbow Ladys challenge blog the theme is hands. I wasn't too sure about this at first but then came across a Kanban concept card with a couple holding hands so thought that would be perfect. I also used pearlescent black card as a backing for the topper. The card is cut and creased from A4 gold rose card sheet. The stamp I found in my stash and I finished it off with some organza ribbon. black stick on pearls and a couple of peel off stickers.

Thanks for looking.

Easter Bonnet Parade

Well I just wanted to share with you what a lovely morning I had at my sons school. Ethan (4) was taking part in an Easter Bonnet parade. We had to make the bonnet at the weekend which was great fun. Ethan really enjoyed getting sticky with my silicone glue, lol. We used craft flowers around the rim, yellow ribbon and satin ribbon flowers dotted all over it. We found some great chickens and Ethan wanted them to look like they had just hatched so I carefully cracked an egg and placed the chicks in them.

Lazy Dayz Decoupage

REVIEW OF LAZY DAYZ GARDEN "CHORES, CHORES: WHAT CHORES?" DIE-CUT DECOUPAGE SHEET
This is a really cheerful sheet of die-cut decoupage images, with enough to make at least two very amusing cards. The images on this sheet are suitable for many occasions, such as birthday, get well, retirement or even just thinking of you, and there is a whole range of these die-cut sheets to suit every taste. Most of us can readily identify with the images too!

Simply pop out the die-cut images, which are conveniently numbered for you so that you know which layer to put on next. This is particularly handy if you are new to decoupage, but is also a good reminder even for the more experienced crafter. You may find it helpful to place the decoupage sheet face down onto the back of a mouse mat and use the rounded handle of a pair of scissors to gently rub around the edges to ease the images free. This should make it easier to pop all the pips. However, if you find any of them a little tenacious, gently use a craft knife to ease the pieces free. You may also need to use your craft knife to gently go around some of the smaller areas, where the die-cutting process hasn’t quite gone through the card.

The image sheet is actually very thick – like good card stock, so the images are robust enough to be shaped with a bone folder before layering and the narrower sections, such as the stool legs or the lady’s feet, aren’t going to fall off whilst you are handling them.
Once you have popped out all of the die-cut images, gently shape them and layer them up using double-sided foam pads or silicone glue and apply to your card. There are several amusing captions to add, which will suit every occasion.
You really can’t go wrong with this die-cut decoupage. Your friends and family will be delighted to receive the finished product.

I decided to make one card (it is double-sided), which I think emphasises the "chores, what chores?" message and at only £1.00 per sheet, you can certainly afford to go a little over-the-top with your cards too!
