Little Lovins Paint Boy

Materials

U-mount Cushion

Archival Black Ink
5 x 7 White Deckle edge card blank

Blue Buttons
Scrap piece white card & stripey card (left over from Kanban Pirate Concept Card)

I really enjoyed making this card, I love the little lovin unmounted rubber stamp sets from Creative Expressions, they are so easy to use. I stamped onto some white card and coloured him in with Smirk glitter pens, then cut him out. . I used an oval cutter on the stripey card and used foam pads to stick him down. The used tape to attach to the card blank. With the blue pen from the smirk set I just went around the deckled edge of the card. To finish I placed pearls in corners and buttons on the opposite side (i was going to put a piece of ribbon down the side, then the buttons on top, but i got carried away and forgot, lol).
Hope you like it anyway and many thanks for looking :)

Sorry, sad day

I was going to get some cards uploaded today but I have been feeling a little down. My Baraband Parakeet laid her first eggs in January. Two out of five were fertile, the first chick hatched just over a week ago, then the second a week ago.
I went to get some supplies from my stash and the male stood on his perch and just seemed to shout at me, which i thought was unusal. So we took a look in the nest box and found the youngest one had died. I have felt really sad about it all day, but I suppose its nature and the first chick (snowball) is still doing really well.

Challenge 17 'Oriental'

Well Saturday is here again and time for a new challenge at One Stop Craft Challenge. This week it is my turn to set the challenge and I have chosen to set it to the theme 'Oriental'. One Stop Card Crafts have also sponsored this weeks prize.
U-mount Oriental A5 Stamp Plate worth £9.99!
So please go over to the challenge blog to see inspiration from our design team and details of how to enter. Remember all types of crafts are welcome
This is the card I have made for the challenge.

Materials:
U-mount Oriental Stamp Plate

Tim Holtz Distress Ink - Spiced Marmalade

Ink it up! Copper

Archival Black Ink

Piece of scrap card (i used ivory coloured)

A4 Charcoal Black Card

A4 Black Gloss Mirri Card

A4 Gold Mirri Card

10mm Woven Edge Organza Ribbon

Sticky pads & double sided tape

Tools:

Score board

Paper trimmer

Acrylic block

Instructions:

1) Take the A4 sheet of black card, score to create an A5 card blank. Fold then cut to measure 99mm (DL)

2) Get the scrap card, mount the stamp onto your acrylic block and stamp onto the card. When this has dried cut to your desired size. Using the distress in, dab around the edges wit the ink pad then smudge with your finger.

3) Take the mirri card in black and trim it so its 5mm bigger than the stamped card and do the same with the gold mirri card 5mm bigger than the black card.

4) Using the branch stamp from the oriental plate, apply copper ink to the stamp and stamp the card in 2 corners so they can be seen when you place the centre image on the card. (I placed the image on the card blank and made a small mark with pencil at the 2 opposite corners to get the placement right)

5) Using double sided tape layer the 3 pieces of card then affix to the card blank using foam pads.

6) Now stamp your sentiment onto a piece of scrap black card using copper ink (i used an off cut from the card blank). When dried trim to size and layer onto a piece of gold mirri card with double sided tape.

7) Get a piece of ribbon and when you are happy with the placement make a small incision in the fold of the card. Thread the ribbon through and tie in a knot.

8) Using foam pads attach the sentiment just below the ribbon.

A big thank you to my friend Paula who has given me this lovely award :) It has brightened up my day. I now have to pass it on to 5 friends so here we go....

Marabou Magic

You will need:

A4 White card and A4 Charcoal Black Card

Vintage Adverts Die Cut Topper

1 Black Marabou feather and 1 Cream Marabou Feather

Kanban 3mm Bling Stick-on Gems

2mm Foam Pads , double sided tape and glue

Tools:

Scoreboard

Guillotine or other cutting implement

Instructions:

1. Cut the A4 White card to measure 15cm x 30cm and score in the middle to make a square card blank. Cut One piece of Charcoal Black card to measure a 15cm square, then slice this square in half from one corner to the opposite corner (making 2 triangles). Cut a second piece of black card measuring 7.5 cm x 10.5 cm.

2. Attach one of the black triangles to the top left hand side of your card blank using double sided tape. Stick one marabou cream feather onto the black portion of the card with glue, gluing only the quill part at the bottom of the feather, and then glue one black marabou feather onto the white portion of the card.

3. Remove your chosen topper from the topper sheet and stick it onto the small rectangular piece of black card (7.5cm x 10.5 cm) with double sided tape. Stick 3D foam pads to the rear of the matted topper and attach it centrally onto your card.

4. To finish the card off, at opposite corners place 3 white Kanban gems onto the black sections and 3 black Kanban gems onto the white sections.

To make the inside:

You will need (in addition to the above), 1 more black marabou feather and a flower of your choice.

1.) Simply use the other half of the square of black card you cut in two to make the front, attach it to the inside with double sided tape.

2) Then add 3 clear and 3 black gems on opposite corners so that the gems contrast with the card behind it. This also carries the theme over to the inside.

3) Finally, glue a black marabou feather to the opposite side and cover up the glued part with a white flower that has a black central gem or brad.
