My Brother's 8th Birthday

It was my little brothers birthday on Monday, he is football mad so I made him this card. He loved it and was amazed at the '8 today' on the football shirt, lol. It's quite good having a little brother as it keeps me feeling young (and makes my mum feel really old, lol) Anyway here's there card....

Joyfold Christmas

You will need:

Kanban Christmas Teddy Concept Card
1 piece plain white card measuring 20cm x 20cm
1 piece black glitter card measuring 10cm x 21 cm
I piece of Foiled Snowflake Vellum measuring 10cm x 21 cm
1 piece of 12 inches by 12 inches red card
Darice Silver Glitter
Stix2 2mm foam pads
Glue
Double Sided Tape

Inside

Standing

Instructions
1. Score the red card 11 cm in from one outside edge. Trim this card so that it measures 22 cm by 12 inches with the score mark running between the longest edges. (Sorry to mix the measurements up there). Fold the card along the score line.

2. Stick the black glitter card centrally onto the front of the card on the small flap created by the score. On the reverse of this flap, stick the snowflake vellum paper and decorate around the edges with silver glitter, being careful that no glitter sticks to the front of the card. Leave to dry.

3. Detach the Teddy decoupage and layer the image up with 2mm foam pads.

4. Score the plain white card in half and fold to make a card blank shape. Cut the concept card in half along the pre-scored fold. Attach one half to the front of the card blank and the other half to the inside of the card blank Turn this card blank round so that it opens the opposite way to a normal card blank i.e. the fold is on the right and the opening is on the left. Attach this card blank onto the right hand side of the red card making sure the glittered flap and the outside of this card blank overlap each other. Open the card blank up and attach the Merry Christmas Sentiment from the concept card.

5. Close the glittered flap and then close the card blank over the top. Take the decoupage Teddy and, using 2mm Foam pads down one outside edge of the back (on the left when the picture faces you), stick this topper onto the black glitter card so that it slightly overlaps the card blank. This acts as a means of keeping the card closed.

A Christmas Morning

You Will Need....

128mmx178mm White Deckle Edged Card.
Silver Mirror Card
Foiled Snowflake Vellum
Kanban Christmas Morning Toppers
3mm Navy Satin Ribbon
Navy Card
Double Sided Tape
Foam Squares

Instructions....

1# Cut vellum to size 150mmx70mm, crease down 25mm from 70mm edge. This 25mm section then sticks to the back of the card blank using double sided tape. Take some navy ribbon and tie this around the crease of the card blank and vellum.

2# You are now working on the topper, take the toppers and curve slightly using fingers, this will arc the topper for a better effect and the foam pads will not be as noticeable. Build up the topper from largest to smallest by placing foam pads on the back, the largest topper should have double sided tape on the back instead of foam pads. Topper is now complete.

3# Cut a piece of navy card to 80mmx105mm, round the corners. Take a Piece of mirror card and cut to 100mmx75mm and round the corners. place double sided tape on the back of both pieces of card and stick the mirror card on top of the navy card, now stick your completed topper on top of the mirror card, this is now ready to be placed onto the main card/vellum.

4# Now take another piece of the navy card and cut to 90mmx30mm, round the corners. Cut another piece of mirror card to 95mmx35mm and round the corners, place double sided tape to the back of both these pieces and stick the navy card on top of the mirror card. Take a sentiment from your kanban toppers sheet and stick this on top of the navy card using double sided tape, this is now ready to place on your main card under your topper. Your card is complete.

New Baby

I made this card for my sister in law, who has just had a baby girl :)

Materials:
Paper flowers
Brad
Baby Feet Rubber Stamp
Silicone Glue
Clear ink pad
Tools: Score board, paper trimmer, heat tool
Instructions:
1) Take the A4 card, crease and cut to 140mm x 140mm
2) Take a small piece of card, using clear ink stamp your image onto the card and sprinkle the embossing powder onto the stamped image, shaking off any excess.
3) Heat up the embossing powder untill melted and leave to cool.
4) Take an off cut of the two tone card and using the reverse side (opposite colour to the front of the card blank) Trim a bit bigger than the stamped image so when adhered to the card with the stamped image it creates a border around it.
5) Adhere the bordered stamped image to the card blank. Place the paper flowers and the banner on opposite corners of the centre piece.
6) I used silicone glue for adhering all piece to create a bit of depth to the card.

All types of crafts and techniques are welcome, the more variation the better as long as somewhere on your creation there are 'pretty petals'.
This week I'm delighted to say the prize has been sponsored by our own online store.... One Stop Card Crafts. We have donated this beautiful rubber stamp of wild flowers - so fitting for this week's challenge.

The lucky winner this week, picked at random, is
Faye's Art Blog
Congratulations Faye, you are the lucky winner of 12 G18 DuoTwist Pyramage Sheets, I'm sure you'll have a lot of fun with these great sheets.

My Challenge Card Example

I have not been very well for the past few days so I just did a quick card for the preety petals challenge. More inspiration from our design team can be found on the challenge blog.

How to make this card...
Materials:
Black brads from the Dovecraft Masculine Brads Pack
Sticker from my craft stash and adhesive
Instructions:
1) Take a 140mm square card blank and choose 2 co-ordinating papers from the floral prints stack.
2) Trim the 1 sheet of paper to cover the card and adhere to the card blank.
3) Take your second piece of paper trim to card size then cut in half from corner to corner so you have a trianglular piece of paper. The adhere this to the card.
4) Choose the paper flowers you wish to use from the pack. I used 3 layers to create the flowers and then secure with a brad.
5) Position these flowers along the join on the paper, I then put a blob of silicone glue on the back of each flower and stck to the card.
6) Add a sentiment of your choice to finish.
There are many variations that can be used to make this card, add ribbon, banners, stamped images and different embelishments. But this is a quick and easy card if you are pushed for time.

'Hidden Messages'

All types of crafts and techniques are welcome, the more variation the better as long as somewhere on your creation there is a 'hidden message', it can be inside, outside, upside down wherever your creative juices take you. This week I'm delighted to say we have been sponsored by G18 and they have kindly donated.....

DuoTwists are twisted pyramid decoupage sheets, each with two stunning designs, together with complimenting background panels. The sheets are produced on premium silk paper to add a bit of luxury and sophistication to your craft masterpiece.

Materials:

Instructions:

1. Start with a square card blank and cover with a backing paper of your choice, trimmed slightly smaller than the card blank. Adhere to the card blank.
2. Next take a piece of card, a trim so that you have about 1/2" at the top and bottom and layer onto the paper and centralise.
3. Take another piece of card and trim slightly smaller than the last, so all card and paper can be seen. Use a craft knife to mark a slot about an inch in size in the centre card.
4. Cut a strip of card about 1" x 8" and fold in half.
5. Add a sentiment of your choice to the strip. I used an 'I miss you' sticker.
6. Slot the strip through the slot made and position behind the card, leaving a small bit out at the front.
7. Using foam pads, adhere the card to the card blank. I attatched a ribbon using a brad so the hidden message can be pulled out easily.
8. To finish the card I used a co-ordinating topper. But embellishments and toppers of any sort can be used.
9. Any card, paper and embellishments can be used to make a card like this, so can be adapted to suit any occasion.

Check out our challenge blog to enter and get some great inspiration.
